British business travellers choose Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as Europe’s best airport
British business travellers have again voted Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as the winner of the Business Traveller Award in the category 'Best Airport in Europe 2011’. The other nominated airports in this category were London Heathrow, Munich and Zurich. In the category ‘Best Airport in the World’ Amsterdam Airport Schiphol came fourth after Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai.
Henry van der Geest, Control & Pricing Manager of Schiphol Group, accepted the award during the ceremony held in London last Monday. ‘It feels wonderful to be so appreciated by the British business traveller and to receive this award – this year for the 22nd time,’ Van der Geest said. ‘It tells us that people appreciate what we are doing in pursuing our ambition to be and remain Europe’s Preferred Airport. As a hub airport, we are vital to the British market. Many passengers fly via Schiphol onward to their destinations in the rest of the world.’
Great Britain is Schiphol’s most important market following its home market the Netherlands. It is a market that is in continual motion: in September 2011, Flybe started a new route from Inverness to Schiphol. With this addition, 25 British destinations can now be flown to directly from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Passengers can choose from over one hundred daily flights to the United Kingdom.
