Buitenveldertbaan Runway out of use from 13 to 22 May for annual maintenance

From Monday 13 to Wednesday 22 May, regular maintenance work will be taking place on the Buitenveldertbaan Runway Runway. The runway is not available for air traffic during this period of maintenance, and a different runway will be used in situations where aircraft would normally take off from or land on the Buitenveldertbaan. Departing air traffic will make use of the Kaagbaan Runway and landing air traffic will make use of the Schiphol-Oostbaan Runway. During the Pentecost weekend (18, 19, 20 May) the Buitenveldertbaan Runway will be available for air traffic again. 

Annual maintenance is carried out on all the runways so that they remain in good condition. The Buitenveldertbaan Runway will be, if necessary, undergoing restorative works on the asphalt and markings. The cabling and electrics will be checked, the rainwater drainage system will be flushed out, the grass around the runway will be cut and the lights will be cleaned or repaired. These works are being carried out in collaboration with construction company Heijmans. 

The use of alternative runways   
During the maintenance, air traffic will be directed to the Kaagbaan and Schiphol-Oostbaan runways. This means there will be more aircraft flying over the areas beneath these runways' flight paths during this maintenance period.
