Cancellations and delays at Schiphol due to storm

A strong westerly storm continues to affect all air traffic to and from Schiphol on Wednesday 3 January. Schiphol advises all travellers to take possible flight cancellations and/or delays into account before travelling to the airport. We also advise travellers to monitor information about their flight on Schiphol.nl, the Schiphol app, or on their respective airline’s website.

Air traffic may be less frequent during storms for safety reasons. Air Traffic Control in the Netherlands often limits the number of runways available.

Update 5.10 p.m.
The number of cancelled flights remained the same. Schiphol expects that the average delay will gradually decrease during the evening.

Update 1.25 p.m.
Currently, 252 flights of 1200+ scheduled flights have been cancelled. This mainly affects flights to and from European destinations. Please expect delays for departing flights of up to one hour. Schiphol’s flight schedule will be disrupted for the rest of the day.

Update 10.20 a.m.
Currently, 176 flights of 1200+ scheduled flights have been cancelled. This mainly affects flights to and from European destinations. Please expect delays for departing flights of up to one hour.

Schiphol’s flight schedule will be disrupted for the rest of the day. The airport expects that the number of cancellations and the average delay time will increase during the course of the day.
