Jaap Winter to succeed Louise Gunning as chair of Royal Schiphol Group’s Supervisory Board

Summary

Jaap Winter will succeed Louise Gunning as chair of Royal Schiphol Group’s Supervisory Board as of 12 April 2022. After two four-year terms, Louise Gunning is leaving the position as chair and member of the Board.

In January 2022, Jaap Winter was appointed as member of the Supervisory Board for a period of four years and he has now been elected as chair. He says: “I look forward to fulfilling the honourable role of chair of the Supervisory Board. I thank Louise Gunning for all the work she has done as chair.” 

Louise Gunning: “I look back on a remarkable time at Schiphol, with the impact of Covid obviously playing a predominant role in this last period. At the same time, Schiphol has taken significant steps towards making not only the airport, but also the aviation sector more sustainable. I wish Jaap Winter all the best in his new role as chair of this great team of commissioners.”

Winter is specialised in governance and has a legal background. He is a partner at Phyleon leadership & governance and advises managers and commissioners on leadership, board dynamics and governance. Previously, he was chair of the Executive Board at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, worked for Unilever as a legal advisor and was partner at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek for ten years.
