New 500 m² Starbucks location opens at Schiphol

Schiphol is proud to welcome a new Starbucks location at the airport, centrally situated in the newly renovated Lounge 1. The recently opened store is part of the lounge’s redevelopment and is the result of a close collaboration between Schiphol, Avolta AG, and Starbucks.

The store is centrally located in Lounge 1, covers an area of 506 square metres and has around 180 seats. Interestingly, this new location has opened exactly at the same spot where the very first Starbucks in the Netherlands opened its doors in 2007.

The arrival of this Starbucks is extra special to us; not only because of its size and appearance, but also because it is a return to where Starbucks started in the Netherlands. It aligns perfectly with the new experience we want to offer in Lounge 1, with more quality and comfort for our travellers.

Arthur Reijnhart, Chief Commercial Officer Schiphol

Inspired by Amsterdam
The establishment combines a high-quality coffee experience with a local feel as its design and décor are inspired by the city of Amsterdam. Travellers can find a wide range of coffee and food products here, including freshly baked croissants with smoked salmon, avocado or pastrami, focaccia and hot grilled sandwiches. The coffee beans are roasted locally in the Starbucks Amsterdam Roastery, ensuring a unique and local taste experience.

This opening reflects Avolta’s commitment to delivering exceptional travel experiences by blending globally loved brands with authentic local character. With its unique design, extended food offering, and close connection to Starbucks' Amsterdam Roastery, this store offers travellers a true sense of place. It is also particularly special to us, as it marks a return to the exact location where we opened our very first Starbucks store at Schiphol back on 25 June 2007.

Lounge 1: renewed and expanded
The opening of Starbucks is part of the large-scale renovation of Lounge 1, which is where passengers arrive after the security check for flights within Europe. The lounge was recently expanded from 19,000 to 24,000 m2, creating more walking and seating space. The retail and hospitality range is also being significantly expanded, with 23 new concepts providing more variety, quality and enjoyment.
