New job fair at Schiphol to recruit additional staff

Summary

Another job fair will be held at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on Saturday 11 June between 10:00 and 15:00. Due to the high demand for new staff and operational employees in particular, Schiphol will be recruiting people for regular jobs, part-time work and summer positions. The job fair is a collaboration between the Schiphol Aviation Community, Royal Schiphol Group, the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV), the employers’ organisation Werkgevers Servicepunt Groot-Amsterdam and the job centre Regionaal Werkcentrum Groot-Amsterdam.

The waiting times at Schiphol have been extremely long in recent weeks, due in part to a shortage of staff throughout the sector. Ongoing shortages on the labour market have led to a high demand for personnel. The job fair will give businesses at Schiphol an extra opportunity to bring their vacancies to the attention of potential employees.

We would also like to show how fun it is to work in aviation and how varied the positions at Schiphol are. That is why in addition to job vacancies, the fair will include several fun activities as well: attendees can ride on a Connexxion training bus, experience what a cleaner’s job at Raggers is like wearing a VR headset and visit a Schiphol Airport Retail pop-up store. Car rental companies Hertz and Six will bring one of their vehicles with them, and Sixt will have a ‘wheel of fortune’.

Schiphol is and remains a fantastic place to work. All of the staff at Schiphol work hard for our passengers every day. That is why we are looking for new colleagues in many different positions to provide a good passenger experience.

Esmé Valk, Director HR at Royal Schiphol Group

 Mostly operational vacancies
About 50* companies have already indicated that they will be at the fair on 11 June. There will be time and space to hold interviews with interested candidates on the spot, and some companies will even have contracts ready.

Most of the vacancies are for operational positions up to intermediate vocational education (MBO) level 4 in security, flight and ground handling, logistics, facility services, cleaning, catering and retail.

These includes positions like: (trainee) airport security guard, ground attendant, passenger assistant, apron staff, baggage staff, baggage trolley regulator, catering staff, logistics staff/coordinator, warehouse staff, bus driver, cleaning staff, customer service attendant, watchmaker and sales assistant.

Jobs for working people, job-seekers, pupils and students
The job fair is aimed at working people, job-seekers, pupils, leavers, students and graduates of intermediate vocational education (MBO) schools throughout the entire Randstad region, but anyone who is willing and able to work at Schiphol is welcome, including people with a disadvantage on the labour market.
