Polderbaan Runway out of use from 28 October to 6 November for annual maintenance
From Monday 28 October to Wednesday 6 November, regular maintenance work will be taking place on the Polderbaan Runway. The runway is not available for air traffic during this period of maintenance, and a different runway will be used in situations where aircraft would normally take off from or land on the Polderbaan Runway. Departing air traffic will make use of the Zwanenburgbaan and Buitenveldertbaan Runways and landing air traffic will make use of the Zwanenburgbaan, Buitenveldertbaan and Schiphol-Oostbaan Runways.
Annual maintenance is carried out on all the runways so that they remain in good condition. The Polderbaan Runway will be undergoing restorative works on the asphalt and markings. The cabling and electrics will be checked, the rainwater drainage system will be flushed out, the grass around the runway will be cut and the lights will be cleaned or repaired. These works are being carried out in collaboration with construction company Heijmans.
The use of alternative runways
During the maintenance, air traffic will be directed to other runways, such as the Zwanenburgbaan, Buitenveldertbaan and Schiphol-Oostbaan Runways. This means there will be more aircraft flying over the areas beneath these runways' flight paths during this maintenance period. For more information on the flight routes, please refer to this page.
