Schiphol delighted to win Routes Marketing Award

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has won several awards at Routes Europe, the annual conference which is mainly attended by European airlines and airports, in the Polish city of Krakow. Schiphol won the Routes Award in the category of airports with over 20 million passengers. In addition, Schiphol won the ‘Overall’ award.

New destinations and airlines

The jury appreciated the fact that Schiphol – the home of KLM – expanded its network in 2015 to include new destinations such as Bogota, Edmonton, Belfast City, Krakow and Salt Lake City. The airport also welcomed 10 new airlines including Aegean Airlines, Xiamen Air, Air Canada, Qatar Airways and Ryanair.

Growth set to continue

The growth will continue in all segments in 2016 and several new destinations have already been added: Mumbai, Astana, Genoa, Rennes and Dresden. In addition, major airlines such as Aeroméxico, Jet Airways and China Eastern Airlines have also started flying to Amsterdam.

Recognition

Airline Marketing Manager Lotte Harbers: ‘We are very pleased that the airlines have recognised Schiphol's efforts to facilitate their operations to the greatest possible extent. We aim to develop the mainport in the most effective and sustainable manner. For this reason, we are always working with our airlines to seek out new routes and destinations.’

This victory also puts Schiphol in the running for a global award. The winner will be announced in the Chinese city of Chengdu at the end of September.
