Schiphol wins 2019 Crystal Prize

Royal Schiphol Group has won the 2019 Crystal Prize for the most transparent reporting on the 2018 financial year. With its corporate social responsibility report, Schiphol earned the top spot in the 2019 Transparency Benchmark rankings. According to the jury, Schiphol reports on sustainability themes in a clear manner and is also transparent about points for improvement. The Crystal Prize is awarded jointly by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Royal Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants (NBA).

We are extremely proud of this result. By being transparent, we can better collaborate with other parties in the sector, with the environment and with society. We are responsible not only for the airport itself, but also for the surrounding area and the sustainable development of aviation. We focus on broad objectives and that is reflected in our awards as well.
Dick Benschop, CEO Royal Schiphol Group

Transparency Benchmark

Following Schiphol and rounding out the top four were Alliander, NS and ABN AMRO. The Transparency Benchmark is carried out every two years on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This is a study into the transparency of CSR reporting among the 500 largest companies in the Netherlands. The Transparency Benchmark does not measure the extent to which an organisation is facing social problems, dilemmas and controversies. Instead, the benchmark score indicates the level of transparency surrounding such issues and the resulting dialogue with society.
