Start of summer schedule at Schiphol

Summary

The summer schedule will take effect at Schiphol on Sunday, 31 March 2019. Airlines will be offering plenty of direct connectivity at Schiphol this summer, too. This summer, there will be four new destinations and 13 additions to existing routes for airlines.

Airlines will add four new destinations to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s network. KLM is homing in on the Polish city of Wrocław, a route that will be flown seven times a week. Another new destination for KLM is Las Vegas, to which the airline will fly three times a week. Delta Air Lines will start flights to Tampa seven times a week, while Air France HOP will fly to Brest from Schiphol three times a week.

Additions to existing routes for airlines at Schiphol
This summer will see KLM commence flights to Boston three times a week and to Naples seven times a week. In addition, easyJet is set to add a number of new routes, to wit Verona (three times a week), Genoa (twice a week) and Pula (twice a week). United Airlines will fly to San Francisco seven times a week. Schiphol will also welcome the new airline LEVEL this summer, which will fly the existing routes from Vueling. Both airlines are part of the International Airlines Group (IAG).

Comparison with last summer
Limited space at Schiphol is forcing airlines to drop routes if they want to open others. For that reason, the destinations of Freetown and Monrovia (combined KLM triangular flight) as well as the Swiss destination of Bern to which SkyWork Airlines flew are being discontinued compared with the 2018 summer schedule.Several routes that were in operation last summer have been discontinued as well. For example, KLM will no longer fly to Tehran and Southampton from this summer onwards, while easyJet will not fly to Lyon and Marseille. Eurowings and Transavia will not fly to Munich this summer. Norwegian, Vueling and Nordica have also implemented changes on routes from Schiphol this summer.

Furthermore, there are several changes in terms of the aircraft types used by the airlines to or from Schiphol. Below is an overview:

The overview of the summer schedule above is a snapshot. Airlines may incorporate further changes into the summer schedule.
