Summer is beginning at Schiphol

More passengers, more airlines and more destinations

Summary

Schiphol is ready for summer! Over the next few months, the airport, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, will welcome no fewer than three new airlines and add a few new destinations to its network. In addition, flight frequency will be increased on certain routes. The year 2016 got off to a good start for us, with a number of successes: more passengers, more airlines and more destinations.

New airlines

Schiphol will welcome three new airlines this summer. We are pleased to be able to welcome Indian airline Jet Airways, which will be offering three daily flights. Starting from 27 March, Jet Airways will offer daily flights from Amsterdam to Mumbai, New Delhi and Toronto. Aeromexico will fly from Amsterdam to Mexico City three times a week from 30 May onwards. Ties with China will be strengthened further through China Eastern Airlines, which will start flying from Shanghai to Amsterdam with an A330-200 four times a week from the end of June onwards. Schiphol seeks to connect the Netherlands to the rest of the world to the best of its ability. The arrival of Jet Airways, Aeromexico and China Eastern constitutes another step towards achieving this goal.

New destinations

Schiphol is expanding its network with a number of new destinations this spring. Starting this year, KLM will take passengers to Genoa, Alicante, Dresden and Astana. From the end of March onwards, HOP! will commence daily flights between Amsterdam and Rennes. From early April onwards, Transavia will fly to Bergerac four times a week, while TUIfly will start offering flights to Alicante and La Palma from the middle of April, as well as two flights a week to Tivat in Montenegro from mid-May. Flybe will be adding Doncaster/Sheffield and Dundee to our network. In addition, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport will be the first destination to be served by Singapore Airlines’ new Airbus A350-900. The airline will start using its A350 on its flights to and from Schiphol from 10 May. This will mark the first time that Schiphol’s network will be served by an A350.

New destinations for Schiphol’s current airlines

Starting from 5 May, KLM will fly to Salt Lake City three times a week. As for Europe, KLM will fly to Valencia twice a week (may be increased to daily flights) from the end of April. From mid-May, Southampton and Inverness will be added to KLM’s list of destinations. From the beginning of July to the end of August, KLM will fly to Ibiza five times a week. In addition, Vueling will add seven new European destinations, while easyjet, too, will be adding new destinations. Its six new routes will bring Southern Europe within even easier reach. Starting from the beginning of May, Corendon will be offering weekly flights to Catania and Madeira. This summer flight frequency will be increased in Schiphol’s network, both on continental and on intercontinental flights. This timetable will be in effect from Sunday, 2 March to Saturday, 2 October 2016.
