Traffic and transport figures for July 2018

In July of this year, 6.8 million travellers flew from, to or via Schiphol, representing an increase of 0.5% relative to last year.

The number of air transport movements decreased by 2.0% relative to a year ago. Average aircraft size has increased by an average of 3 more seats per air transport movement. The occupancy rate has additionally risen by 0.2%, to 88.7%. The number of passengers departing from or arriving at Schiphol grew by 1.1%, while the number of transfer passengers decreased slightly (-0.4%).

Cargo

In July there were 13.6% fewer cargo flights than one year ago. The total volume of cargo decreased by only 3.0%, however, because more cargo (+5.7%) was transported on board passenger flights.

 

Passenger destinations

There were 4.9 million passengers travelling within Europe, a decline of 1.4%. In July this year there were in particular fewer passengers travelling to Spain and Turkey than in July 2017. The largest growth in passenger numbers was on the routes to Ireland. Intercontinental traffic grew by 5.5%. The largest growth in passenger numbers is to destinations in North America.
