Working in a pleasant environment: Schiphol introduces free bicycle sharing scheme

Today, André van den Berg, director of Schiphol Real Estate, introduced ‘Your SchipholBIKE’ during a festive gathering. This special service provides airport employees with the free loan of a bicycle. At the same time, he officially opened the doors of a pop-up gallery called ‘The White Room’, where the Fashion & Schiphol exhibition can be seen until the end of the year.

Your SchipholBIKE and the pop-gallery form part of the SCHIPHOL WORKING BUSINESS CLASS programme, which develops activities aimed at continually enhancing the working environment at Schiphol-Centre.

YourSchipholBIKE

Employees can choose from two types of bicycles. There is a designer bicycle made of wood and a trendy city bike with a recycled frame. The bikes were designed by Jan Gunneweg. Employees of companies based at Schiphol can borrow a bike from one of the four bicycle stations at Schiphol-Centre. YourSchipholBIKE bicycles can be used to get to an appointment at Schiphol, go for a quick shopping trip or simply get some fresh air. Bicycles can be taken out through the automated system for which employees need to register on www.schiphol.nl/yourschipholbike.

Fashion & Schiphol exhibition

Until the end of the year, the Fashion & Schiphol exhibition can be seen in The Base building on Evert van de Beekstraat, featuring works by five leading Dutch photographers: Andy Tan, Sander Nieuwenhuys, Sander Baks, Marcel Briaire and Joep Roosen. Exclusively for this exhibition, they have created works that forge links between fashion and the airport’s architecture.
