Pieter van Oord new CEO Royal Schiphol Group

Summary

Pieter van Oord will be the new CEO of Royal Schiphol Group as of 1 June 2024. The Supervisory Board (SB) intends to appoint him until 1 June 2028. The SB are appointing Pieter van Oord because of his extensive managerial experience in a complex, operational sector. His experience in the field of assets and vision on making the aviation sector more sustainable weighed heavily in the SB’s decision. The shareholders of Royal Schiphol Group and the central works council support his appointment.

Van Oord will succeed Ruud Sondag. Sondag has been interim CEO since 1 November 2022 and will stay on until 1 March 2024, at which point he will no longer be available due to other commitments previously made. In the period 1 March to 1 June, CFO Robert Carsouw will be interim CEO.

We are very pleased that Pieter van Oord will fill the position of CEO at Royal Schiphol Group. Pieter's experience and capabilities are impressive. He is a highly experienced and internationally-oriented CEO of a successful company. He has extensive experience in the field of logistics operations and asset management, two areas in which there will be significant challenges for Schiphol in the coming years. For Pieter, sustainability is a key issue. This is in line with Schiphol's ambitions to accelerate sustainability and reduce its environmental and climate impact. He is an experienced leader who can build teams and strengthen confidence in Schiphol, both among its own employees and in the outside world.

Jaap Winter, Chairman of Royal Schiphol Group’s Supervisory Board
Pieter van Oord

Pieter van Oord has managed Royal Van Oord, an international maritime contractor, since 2008. The company is at the forefront of companies contributing to the acceleration of the energy transition. In addition to dredging, offshore, oil and gas, offshore wind has become one of the company's most important pillars under his leadership. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of De Hoge Veluwe National Park and President of the Feijenoord Stadium.

Schiphol is a major hub for Dutch and international mobility. I realise that this significance must go hand in hand with other interests, both within and outside the airport. I am happy to contribute to the transition of Schiphol and aviation, based on a responsibility I feel towards our society. I look forward to the handover period with Ruud Sondag and to working with the entire Schiphol team. I also do so in the knowledge that I am leaving the wonderful family company Van Oord in good hands.
