Schiphol connects the Netherlands with 301 destinations – 68.8 million travellers in 2025
Schiphol keeps the Netherlands moving, connecting people and transporting goods with 301 destinations worldwide. In 2025, 68.8 million travellers flew to, from or via Schiphol, a 2.9% increase compared to 2024. Most people travelled to Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States and Turkey. The number of flights to and from Schiphol was 477,552 in calendar year 2025. The trend towards quieter aircraft on flights to and from Schiphol continues.
301 destinations
Schiphol directly connected the Netherlands to 301 destinations, 125 of them intercontinental. According to the ACI Airport Industry Connectivity Report 2025, Schiphol is Europe’s second‑best connected airport in terms of direct connectivity. In hub connectivity, Schiphol ranks third in Europe and fifth worldwide.
Quieter aircraft on flights to and from Schiphol
The number of flights to and from Schiphol reached 477,552 in calendar year 2025 (+1% compared with 2024). Since the introduction of new airport charges at Schiphol, airlines are increasingly opting to use quieter aircraft for flights to and from Schiphol. 32.6% of the aircraft that operated between April and December 2025 fell into the two most quiet tariff categories, an increase of almost 8.8% compared with last year. Tariff differentiation also discourages night-time flying. The forecast for the new operating year shows that this trend will continue: 15% quieter during the day and 32% quieter at night.
Number of travellers
Of the 68.8 million travellers in 2025, 43.6 million of them flew directly to or from Schiphol. For them, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was the airport of arrival or departure. 25.2 million travellers had a connecting flight at Schiphol.
Most popular destinations
48.9 million travellers flew to or arrived from a destination in Europe, 19.9 million to or from an intercontinental destination. Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States and Turkey were the most popular destinations for departing travellers. In 2024, the United Kingdom was the most popular destination.
Cargo in 2025
Schiphol handled 1.43 million tonnes of cargo, 4% less than in 2024 (1.49 million tonnes). There were 15,348 cargo-only flights, a decrease of 2% compared to 2024 (15,661).
