Traffic and transport figures for May 2017

In May 8.1% more passengers travelled to, from and via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol than in May 2016. The number of passengers in May thus came to more than 6.2 million. Growth was further stimulated by the fact that the weekend following Ascension Thursday was not part of the May school holiday period this year, which meant that there was an extra travel opportunity for many. Airlines also started operating new routes from and to Schiphol, while they also increased the frequency they are flying to various destinations.

The total number of passenger flights increased by 4.6% and the number cargo flights increased by 3.4%.

Destinations

Of the 6.2 million passengers, 4.5 were travelling within Europe. The highest growth in the number of passengers within Europe was found on flights to and from Greece, followed by the United Kingdom and Spain.
